BORNEO ORANGUTAN TOUR DESCRIPTION
Enjoy searching wildlife surrounding the forest. some group of proboscis monkey, long tail macaque are quite easy to find a long the river bank. when the lucky with you, False Gavial crocodile sometime come up on the water survey for dry out specially at the black water river up to camp leakey. You have opportunity to take small hike in the forest before enjoy watching orangutan feeding time at both camp : Pondok Tanggui camp and Camp Leakey. The activities will combine with experience dayak peoples daily live and tradition. Our dayak destination is not completely remote area, your trip up to lamandau river will give you experience about the real dayak live such as, stay at traditional long house, you may be involved on traditional dance, and daily activities.
DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
Day 1 : Pangkalan Bun - Tanjung puting national park
Fly to Pangkalan Bun, Upon arrival greeting with our guide then cruise up the sekoyer river by special and comfortable tourist boat ( Klotok ), rest of afternoon enjoy observing wildlife around the river bank using boat. Proboscis monkey, long tail macaque and some birds are the list of animal you may see along the ride. ( L, D )
Day 2 : Pondok Tanggui - Camp Leakey
We will cruise up the river to Camp Leakey, as known as old rehabilitation center and research center for orangutan since 1971. almost 300 hundred orphaned orangutan had been released in the forest. This give us opportunity to hike and explore the tropical rain forest searching for this orangutan and other wildlife surrounding camp leakey. Accompanied with the ranger who have been involved with Orangutan for years. We will go back to the boat during lunch time then at 14.00 aclock we will witness feeding time for rehabilitated orangutan. ( B, L, D )
Day 3 : Pondok tanggui - Pesalat - Tanjung harapan
Today cruise and visit the other different camp rehabilitation of orangutan at Pondok Tanggui, witness morning feeding time for rehabilitated orangutan. Down the river and stop at Pesalat camp where you will see the forest rehabilitation project. we take this chance to learn and involved the reforestation project as one of our responsible to keep the nature and wildlife. In the afternoon, continuing the trip by visiting Tanjung harapan rehabilitation center and witness afternoon feeding time. Late afternoon we could visit The small village near by the national park to see the local peoples activities . If you would like to take small hike during night, our team will guide you to the forest of Pesalat to observe nocturnal animal and searching for blowing mushroom ( Depend to the weather ) or we can just easy cruise down the river while having dinner to see group of fireflies. Day 4 : Park - Bakonsu dayak village
Today we will boat down to Kumai then transfer straight to the speed boat harbor. Please covered your valuable things with dry bags and put suntan lotion for sun protection. We recommend also bring soft ear plugs as the sounds of speed boat is so noisy. You will be boarding your speed boat on the Arut River before change to the Lamandau River. On the way you will pass some villages , logging company, and rapids. You will stop for lunch on the way. Upon arrival at Bakonsu Village after 4 hours drive, our guide will take you to the long house for your accommodation. Sightseeing around the villages and arrange the welcome dancing ceremony. After dinner they will ringing their gong or one of their music instrument to gathering together for this Horn Bill Dancing Party. Lots of people will join and you will be welcome like a King & Queen. Overnight at Long house.(B, L, D)
Day 5 : Bakonsu - Pangkalan Bun hotel
Morning sightseeing around the village. If you are interested to collect some Dayak Artifacts such as the mask, mat, and carvings this is one of the place that available for this kind of stuffs. After packing your luggage, drive down back to Pangkalan Bun by speed boat. On the way stop at Kotawaringin Palace and sightseeing surrounding. Lunch on the way. Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun, drive by car back to your hotel. Free program at your own leisure. Overnight at Hotel at Pangkalan Bun. (B,L,D).
Day 6 : Pangkalan Bun airport
Transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination.TOUR END (B)
